National Museum in Belgrade safeguards over 400,000 archeological, historic and numismatic artifacts, artworks, works of applied art, a collection of old and rare books, as well as an extraordinary archive of documents. This rich museum fund is systematized in collections divided primarily on chronological criterion as well as by type of artifacts.

Development of the Collection is a continuous process, achieved through gifts, acquisitions, legacies and archeological excavations. Study and presentation of this exceptional cultural heritage is done through regular expert activity, as well as through research, publications and exhibitions.
